Key lessons
learned about planning and operating a CommunityNet...
- You need a champion who will do a lot of leg work, pounding the pavement
and calling people to drum up support and provide lots of hand holding.
- Good things take time to grow -- so hang in there and be patient.
Detlef 's Wish List! to expand and improve BC's CommunityNets
in 1996 includes...
- Rounding up more volunteers and information providers.
- Establishing well defined partnerships between commercial Internet Service
Providers (ISPs) and CommunityNets.
- Connecting BC's smaller communities -- ensuring they don't get left out of
BC's electronic highway.
- Establishing more public terminals for people who don't have the necessary
equipment or can't afford to connect to their local CommunityNet from home or
work.
