- The Community and Cooperative Business Development component of Community Enterprise makes matching contributions to community-based agencies that develop projects to diversify local economies. - The Community Capacity Building component of Community Enterprise will fund a number of pilot projects to create work opportunities and sustainable income for individuals from marginalized groups. Ministry of Social Development and Economic Security
- The Facilities and Equipment Grant program helps communities create new licensed child-care spaces that meet the needs of families. - The Neighbourhood Enhancement Program helps neighbourhoods plan how to enhance community life and accessibility. http://www.marh.gov.bc.ca/NEP/#funding
- Small Community Protection Grant - an unconditional grant to municipalities to assist them to provide basic services. Grant amounts are based on a formula that factors in a base amount, population and assessment values. These grants generally apply to municipalities with populations up to 18,000. - The Community Planning and Development Grant Program helps local governments undertake programs and develop plans to manage growth and development. The maximum total grant is $30,000 in a fiscal year. Funding assistance for approved projects is based on cost sharing and the maximum grant commitment is 50% of the cost to local government. - Infrastructure Grant Program There are two types of infrastructure grants under this program, dealing mainly with water and sewage. Projects must demonstrate they will create employment, involve the construction of physical assets, follow proper planning and environmental practices, and ensure the proponent pays for ongoing operating costs. Some funding under this program has been dedicated to community enhancement projects and improving access to public services and space. - The Government of Canada is increasing its support to amateur sport. New funding would total $7.5 million per year to amateur sport. This new funding will be allocated to the National Sports Centres (NSC), as well as the Athlete Assistance program. The funding increase will include $1.5 million a year to be allocated to the NSCs. Health Canada - Community Based Programs Section facilitates the development and delivery of successful interventions to at-risk populations living in communities across Canada through CAPC and CPNP and to maintain the integrity of these programs. http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hppb/childhood-youth/cbp.html
- The Community Action Program for Children (CAPC), delivered through Health Canada regional offices, funds community groups to establish and deliver services addressing developmental needs of at risk children ages 0-6 years.

- The Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program (CPNP) is a comprehensive program designed to provide food supplementation, nutrition counselling, support, education, referral and counselling on lifestyle issues to pregnant women who are most likely to have unhealthy babies. http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hppb/childhood-youth/cbp/cpnp/index.html
- The CAPC/CPNP National Projects Fund has been created following the February '97 Budget announcement that increased funding for CAPC/CPNP over three years. - The goal of the Population Health Fund is to increase community capacity for action on or across the determinants of health. - Social Development Partnerships (SDP) is a research and development program that supports activities of the social non-profit sector in line with HRDC's mandate. These activities identify, develop and nationally significant best practices and models of service delivery and build community structural capacity to meet the social development needs and aspirations of populations who are or may be at risk. - Community Inclusion Initiatives - Through Community Inclusion projects, local communities develop their own strategies and promote customized approaches to eliminate barriers faced by Canadians with intellectual disabilities and their families.
